The Ministry of Maritime Affairs announced that it has started an action of stricter control and sanctions, in order to improve the safety and security of maritime and water traffic.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has announced that due to a series of unfortunate events in the past few days that indicate that vessel operators are not complying with the regulations, they will try to prevent the recurrence of these occurrences through increased surveillance.
During the first intensified controls in Bar and Kotor, it is added, a number of violations were observed for which corresponding fines were imposed.
The Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović, during a tour of the field, announced that there will be no tolerance for those who break the law.
"I spoke with the port captains and we agreed on daily and increased controls until the end of the summer. There is no mercy for offenders. We must introduce order and compliance with navigation rules. Even today, during this control, a number of irregularities were registered. All those who did not respect the rules and regulations were punished. This will be the case until the end of the season, and surveillance will be carried out along the entire Montenegrin coast," said Radulović.
He pointed out that due to the large number of visitors during the summer season, the frequency of traffic has increased significantly, which requires daily monitoring and precautionary measures.
He said that there will be zero tolerance for careless driving on all waterways. He reminded that accidents are caused by negligent drivers of vessels, and that due to inappropriate speed or sailing conditions, innocent people also suffer.
"Tourists and all those who decide to travel, by sea or any waterway, must feel safe and comfortable. We will not allow rampage and jeopardy of safety. I call on all participants in water traffic to behave responsibly and comply with legal regulations, as would provide both guests and ourselves with safe and pleasant sailing," said Radulović.
