The Deputy Prime Minister for the Political System, Justice and Administration, Momo Koprivica, announced that as the president of the National Council for the Fight against Corruption, he will propose expanding its composition, in order to include the president and vice president of the Council of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK).
Koprivica, as announced from his cabinet, congratulated Pavlo Ćupić on his election as president of the ASK Council, and Mladen Tomović on his election as vice president of the ASK Council.
"The election of independent members of the ASK Council in the Assembly is the first precondition for the recovery of this very important institution, which was without a Council for a year, which opened up space for arbitrariness and irresponsibility. I am convinced that the new ASK Council and its leadership will be immune in relation to any inappropriate influences, no matter where they come from, which is of particular importance for the strengthening of the Agency's authority and the fulfillment of its mission. with which we exercise power, and in this sense it is of particular importance that we fully respect the independence of the Agency and every letter of the law on preventing corruption," Koprivica emphasized in the announcement.
He added that "after the judicial appointments that resolved the current situation in the judiciary, the election of the independent and credible ASK Council and the election of the president and vice president of this body, the trend of institutional consolidation continued, without which there is no effective fight against corruption, legal security and prevention of all kinds abuse of power and authority".
