Pastrovska gora: The fire approached the church of St. Stefan Dečanski

The branch of the fire that threatens Reževići arrived only a hundred meters from the church of St. Stephen of Dečanski, which is located 2,5 kilometers from the monastery of St. Spiridon, on Paštrovska Gora.

Monk Melchizedek from the Sveti Stefan Dečanski cell and a dozen volunteers managed to stop the fiery element, but they fear what may happen tonight and tomorrow.

They are in contact with the firefighters from Budva, but they are aware that due to the configuration of the terrain, they cannot count on the arrival of vehicles.

"This is inaccessible terrain and firefighting is only possible from the air. "Unfortunately, the Ministry of the Interior assessed that it was a third-degree forest, and that the fire did not threaten anyone, and they refused to intervene with a helicopter or an airplane," father Melchizedek told Vijesti.

He warns that the fire is spreading towards the church of St. Elijah and St. Spiridon and that he can go down to the village of Rađenovići.

"We fought the fire with the help of a dozen backpacks provided by the Sveti Stefan local community. I'm afraid that it won't be enough if the fire breaks out", adds Father Melchizedek and appeals to those responsible to send a helicopter or plane to this area as soon as possible in order to prevent a disaster of enormous proportions.

At the same time, he invites people of good will to join them in order to protect the church and the numerous animals housed there.
