Budva: The fire is approaching the church of St. Stefan Dečanski on Paštrovska Gora

The fire threatens the church of Sveti Stefan Dečanski on Paštrovska Gora from all sides. If the fire is not stopped immediately, we will have to evacuate, says monk Melchizedek from the Sveti Stefan Dečanski skete.

He points out that yesterday's helicopter raids temporarily stopped the fire, but it was not extinguished and that it is approaching the temple.

"I am asking the authorities to react as soon as possible because now there is a danger that the fire will engulf the temple, the hermitage and the animals that are there, together with us," warns Father Melchizedek.

The branch of the fire that threatens Reževići arrived only a hundred meters from the church of St. Stephen of Dečanski, which is located 2,5 kilometers from the monastery of St. Spiridon, on Paštrovska Gora.

The monk Melchizedek and a dozen volunteers managed to stop the fiery element at one point, but the fire, as he says, despite help from the air, is getting closer to the temple.

The area around the church of St. Stefan Dečanski affected by the fire is inaccessible and therefore the only way is to stop the fire with helicopter attacks.
