The municipality of Nikšić appealed to the competent state authorities to protect the private property of the residents of Straševina, which is suspected to be endangered by the disposal of hazardous waste, the institution announced.
"It is unheard of that without the knowledge of the owner of the land, any actions are taken on private property, especially those that can endanger health and worsen the ecological picture of Straševina, which was sufficiently worsened by the state in which the Mislov landfill was left to us until after years in which nothing was done to that problem is solved," said the Municipality.
"As representatives of the local self-government who brought the solution of this big problem almost to the end, we have to point out that it is significant that, according to our knowledge, waste that is suspected to be dangerous is starting to be unloaded on the territory of Straševina at the very moment when the first surface spill happened the fire after almost two years at the Mislov do landfill, and that at the very moment when the rehabilitation of the first two plateaus is coming to an end and it remains to move on to the last one, the third one, which is affected by the fire", according to the announcement submitted by the Cooperation Service, affairs of the president and information of the Municipality of Nikšić.
They said that at the moment "while we were dealing with the biggest and inherited environmental problem", someone took advantage of the focus of both the locals and the local government on it to create another ecological black spot, right near Mislovi dol.
"Too coincidental to be coincidental. We call on the authorities to investigate this case, to protect the private property of the person. Citizens must know that the local services reacted as soon as the first reports arrived, but this case is beyond our jurisdiction. We have no doubt that the authorities will state services to respond adequately and that they will order the removal of waste, especially since private property is threatened by such disposal," it added.

They asked the citizens of Straševina for patience "until we see what the results of the reaction of the competent state services will be, because if in all these years of the existence of the Mislov landfill, radical measures have not been taken, nor has the highway been blocked because of it, if this was not done while the trucks were went through Straševina, when those methods could have given a concrete result - there is no need to make the work of the competent services even more difficult and to sabotage highway traffic until we get the results of their work on this issue".
From the Municipality of Nikšić, they pointed out that only in case of inadequate actions of state services, more radical measures should be taken, "in which the citizens will have the support of their local self-governments as well".
"We know how much effort we are making to rehabilitate and close Mislov and how much more time it will take to recultivate that area. The irresponsible behavior of private individuals and these attacks on citizens' property really make us disappointed and fuel the suspicion that all these actions have a political background, in which the government the desire to harm the current local government and at the cost of harming our citizens," said the Municipality.
"We want to tell the citizens of Straševina and Nikšić that we work for them, that we don't push problems under the carpet, that we work transparently. The Mislov do landfill will be quickly rehabilitated and closed, which will solve the environmental problem, and there will no longer be landfills on the territory of Straševina either. , nor in the territory of Nikšić. Until the construction of the Recycling Center, which is foreseen by the new PUP and the state plan for waste management in the territory of Montenegro, it will be taken away and deposited at the Livada landfill station for transshipment of waste that is deposited in Livade with the term landfill, because after Mislovi dol, the waste will no longer be deposited anywhere in Nikšić, but must be transferred somewhere into special trucks, which will ship the waste to Podgorica," the announcement reads.
They stated that these are "delicate things and specific moments", in which, he says, he tries to do things for the general good of the community.
"These are not matters of daily politics, nor should they be viewed through the frustrated statements of those who made Mislovi Dol the problem we have today and the ecological black point of Nikšić and Montenegro. We can use many other things for political fights, but when the health of our citizens is in issue - we must act together and responsibly. You could see that we did not even react to those small-scale and petty political attacks by our political opponents, because those who made Mislovi Dol a problem for decades and who threatened your health do not deserve any response. but contempt," said the Municipality.
"We are reacting now by appealing to the state authorities to take measures to protect our citizens from irresponsible private companies and persons, who acted scandalously in this case. We will follow the progress of solving this problem and will be ready to act decisively in order to help and protect our citizens," the announcement concludes.
