During the tourist season, controls at sea must be tightened, in order to avoid unwanted situations.

This was announced by the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović, who spoke with the acting director of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority, Haris Husić, about the season, and the emphasis was placed on the safety of navigation.

"We have had several accidents in the past few days, which could largely be prevented by preventive action, i.e. by punishing all those who do not follow the regulations. I would especially like to thank the Directorate of Maritime Safety and Port Management, which provided us with a drone and personnel so that all together worked with other institutions on greater controls and prevention of maritime accidents," said Radulović.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Husić informed Radulović about the activities carried out by UPSUL to increase the safety of navigation as well as search and rescue operations.

"This year we had fewer search and rescue operations at sea than last year at the same time, and we hope it will remain so. Our teams are always ready and prepared for calls for help at sea, and we are also there to support our colleagues during control maritime traffic," said Husić.

Radulović and Husić sent a joint appeal to citizens and tourists to respect the regulations, especially now in the summer months when the frequency of maritime traffic is increased, and therefore the potential risk of accidents is greater.
