The Department for Seismology of the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology registered an earthquake of medium strength, with an epicenter eight kilometers south of Neum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at five hours and 33 minutes this morning, which was felt in and around Montenegro.
The Department of Seismology announced that the strength of the earthquake in the hypocenter (focus) was 4.0 units on the Richter scale, which corresponds to the epicentral intensity of degree VI of the Mercalli scale (MCS).
"According to the preliminary processing data, the focus of this earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. Based on the theoretical model of the macroseismic field of this region, the magnitude of the earthquake and the depth of the hypocenter, this earthquake could have caused only minor material damage in the epicentral area," the announcement reads.
