The efforts of the locals to put out the fire in the Kolašin village of Kos (Morača), starting yesterday in the early hours of the morning, were ended by the rain.
As activist Vuk Vujisić announced on social networks, the rain extinguished the fire, which was "swallowing the oak and beech forest".
The Kolašina firefighters, as they claim, were unable to put out the fire due to the inaccessible terrain, and since yesterday, the locals, equipped with knapsacks, have been preventing the fire from spreading to the local cemetery and houses.
As the coordinator of the Protection and Rescue Service (SZS) Nemanja Bulatović announced this morning, the fire started in the part where the forest was exploited.
The spread of the fire was favored by the wind and large amounts of wood waste, that is, as Vujisić said, due to disrespect for the forest order at the intersection.
