The former director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, asked the Council of that institution to allow her to receive compensation for another year upon termination of office, the so-called. official compensation.

According to "Vijesti" information, Perović requested salary compensation in the amount of the salary she received in the last month before the termination of her position.

The Council of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption should make a statement about this at a session that could be held as early as the end of this week. At the same session, the Council should also appoint an acting director, given that this institute is foreseen in the Statute of the Agency unanimously adopted yesterday.

According to "Vijesti" information, the Acting Director of the Agency will be determined by a simple majority - three out of five members of the Council.

Jelena Perović was dismissed last week.

Perović has been under house arrest since mid-April on suspicion of abusing her position, and as previously announced by the Special State Prosecutor's Office, prosecutors also suspect that she damaged the state budget by more than 100.000 euros.

After last week's decision of the Council, she announced that her dismissal was "politically motivated" and that "the political parties on whose behalf, as she claims, the majority of Council members are implementing the plan for her dismissal, apparently have a promise of impunity for many criminal acts".
