The murder of Biljana Pavićević once again showed the complete breakdown of the system in front of women victims of domestic violence. Violence in the family remains without a systemic reaction for years, and the consequences are the victims who were killed, who did not receive support and protection in time, said Ana Novaković-Đurović, deputy of the Citizens' Movement (GP) URA.
She stated that the fact that the victim reported threats from her ex-husband, and that the authorities did not recognize the elements of the crime, is especially disturbing and spreads a complete sense of insecurity in the country for every woman who turns to the institutions for help.
"The question is how many more women need to suffer as a result of domestic violence for institutions to finally take urgent measures to prevent femicide. Gender-based violence is our reality, which continuously ends in tragic cases. The state shows its real strength on this issue. That's why it is necessary that, in addition to the law, prevention and punishment of violent people, individuals in the system who, by their inaction and omissions, send the message that violence is acceptable and minimally punishable, are also adequately evaluated," she concluded.
Miljan Bošković (37) from Podgorica was arrested on suspicion of killing his ex-wife Biljana Pavićević (33) yesterday in the Masline neighborhood of Podgorica.
