Residents of the Nikšić settlements of Straševina and Kličevo blocked the Nikšić-Podgorica main road, near the Budoš tunnel, this evening because of disputed material deposited on private properties and land managed by the Railway Infrastructure of Montenegro, in Straševina, as well as on land under Trebjes, which is , as they point out, is owned by the Municipality of Nikšić.
The blockade lasted an hour and a half, and the locals decided to postpone the blockade of the tunnel until Monday, because on Monday the President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević, scheduled a meeting with the locals, and the representatives of the competent state institutions will also attend the meeting.
"Our further moves will depend on the results of the meeting and whether we continue with the blockade on Monday," said the gathered locals.
They doubt that it is grit, and they also doubt the findings of the Center for Ecotoxicology, whose analyzes showed that it is a non-dangerous material.
The Directorate for Inspection Affairs made a decision that the company "MM System", which disposed of the disputed material, should move it to another location, also in Nikšić, in accordance with the decision of the Environmental Protection Agency on waste disposal.
Locals oppose such a solution, because they do not want "waste from Nikšić to be moved to Nikšić".
The Council of the Local Municipality of Straševina reminded that, together with the locals, they requested the removal of grit and that, with the decision of the inspector on the removal of waste from Straševina, their "elementary request was fulfilled".
"In communication with the locals and the representatives of the Municipality, a meeting of the locals with the competent authorities will be organized on Monday regarding further issues", announced from the Ministry of Health of Straševina.
