The cause of the occurrence of autism cannot in any way be linked to the MMR vaccine or its influence on the occurrence of any developmental disorder from this spectrum, for which there are both professional and scientific grounds, this is the joint assessment from the meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Center for Early Development of the Clinical Center of Montenegro Gore (former name: Center for Autism, Developmental Disabilities and Child Psychiatry "Ognjen Rakočević").
As stated in the joint statement, the fact that supports this "is that a significant number of children with autism, who are cared for in this Center, have not been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine".
"The interlocutors agreed that it is a particularly sensitive epidemiological moment when everyone, especially children with developmental disabilities, must be protected. Therefore, it was said that all segments of society must work together and continuously to protect children from getting sick and prevent the smallpox epidemic, which seriously threatens our country, especially considering the fact that the school year starts on Monday, and staying in collectives favors the spread of the virus," the announcement reads.
An appeal was sent to parents to take advantage of the availability of vaccines and show responsibility towards themselves and the entire child population in our country.
The meeting at the Ministry of Health was attended by secretaries Mirjana Andrijašević and Aleksandar Sekulić, general director of the Directorate for Public Health Ivana Živković and representatives of the Center for Early Development of Child Psychiatrists Iva Ivanović and head nurse Mirjana Ralević Vukmirović.
