Danijela Popović and Žarko Božović withdrew their candidacy for Ombudsman of the Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) in favor of their colleague Vesna Pejović and informed the Public Service Council about it.

In a letter to the Council, former RTCG Ombudsman Popović and Božović state that Vesna Pejović is a long-time journalist-editor in that media house, the author of numerous shows, series and one of the authors and signatories of the Code of Journalists of Montenegro.

"We remind you that Vesna Pejović, as the long-time president of the Independent Union of Journalists, is one of the initiators and founders of the Journalist Self-Regulatory Body, the first in the history of journalism in Montenegro. Also, since 2006, she was in charge of monitoring and analyzing electronic media for four years in that part and once monthly, at a press conference, publicly stated the key problems in violation of the journalistic code, and pointed to specific examples of media that violate the Code...", the memo states.

In the letter, Popović and Božović point out that Pejović, based on her great experience and knowledge, explained to the members of the Council how and what the RTCG Ombudsman should do in her application for the competition.

"We believe that colleague Pejović, with whom we share the same world views, with her intellectual and professional capacities in journalism, deserves to perform the job of protecting the rights of listeners, viewers and readers of RTCG", they conclude in the letter to the Council.
