Exercise of UPSUL and Luštice Bay Emergency Response Team: Evacuated guests from the hotel on the island of Mamula

The Administration of Maritime Safety and Port Management of Montenegro (UPSUL) with the management of the "Mamula" hotel organized a search and rescue exercise, as well as the evacuation of guests and employees from the "Mamula" hotel on the island of the same name, at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. In addition to UPSUL troops, representatives of the Luštica Bay Emergency Response Team also participated in the exercise.

"This exercise, which was organized for the first time in this way, showed the readiness of the state and private sectors to jointly respond to potential challenges in the most demanding part of the Montenegrin coast," UPSUL announced today on that occasion.

Given that the island of Mamula is very demanding for search and rescue operations from the sea side, the very scenario of the exercise included the evacuation of an injured person from the island, which was carried out with the rescue boat SAR-1, with the assistance of a special SAR scooter and boat SAR-4 .

At the same time, the hotel management, following its internal security evacuation procedures, successfully transported 38 people by sea from the island to Mirište bay with two vessels. Complete coordination was carried out through the Maritime Operations Center, which received a call to the number 129 Safety at Sea, and support from the land went through OKC 112 to alert emergency medical services.

"Through this joint exercise, the Directorate of Maritime Safety and Port Management has demonstrated its readiness to respond to all potential challenges related to search, rescue and evacuation on the most demanding part of the Montenegrin coast, i.e. from the island of Mamula, in coordination with the private sector," UPSUL concluded. -and.
