Montenegro faces many challenges in the field of environmental protection, but the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS) will make maximum efforts to preserve that segment at the highest level, said relevant minister Damjan Ćulafić.
As reported by MERS, he spoke with the Brazilian ambassador to Montenegro, on a non-resident basis based in Belgrade, José Mauro da Fonseca Costa Cout.
"Čulafić pointed out that Montenegro faces many challenges in the field of environmental protection, but that he is sure that the Ministry will make maximum efforts to preserve this segment at the highest level," the statement said.
According to reports, Ćulafić informed Kosta Kout about the planned laws that are in the adoption phase, as well as the drafting of the State Plan for Waste Management, which, among other things, will contribute to raising citizens' awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
"With our legislative activities, we have proven that we are aware of all the challenges ahead of us," Ćulafić emphasized.
Kosta Kouto said that 66 percent of Brazil's territory is covered by forests, which represents a significant contribution to global environmental protection.
He added that he is interested and ready to help Montenegro, especially in the area of environmental protection and the use of renewable energy sources.
"The interlocutors agreed to propose models of cooperation in order to further strengthen joint efforts in the field of environmental protection and preservation," the announcement states.
