Instead of Podgorica firefighters being rewarded for overtime work and being on duty, the leadership of the Capital City Protection and Rescue Service has been forcing firefighters for days to sign that they waive their right to compensation based on overtime hours, the holder of the "Podgorica List - Andrej Milović" announced at the upcoming extraordinary elections in Podgorica, Andrej Milović.
"To make the matter even more scandalous, the firefighters worked overtime on the basis of the Standby Order of July 19, 2024, which obliges them to be on 24-hour standby and to respond immediately to a call in the event of a fire, which they they worked as professionals all summer," said Milović.
He said that the beginning of the Podgorica campaign with the visit of the deputy mayor Luka Rakčević and the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, and yesterday also the mayor Olivera Injac, "proved that for them the firefighters are used exclusively for political promotion and sending an image to the voters about the false concern for the firefighters, so that after , when the cameras are turned off, forced those same firefighters to give up earned overtime."
"As the mayor of Podgorica, I will not allow our heroes, who protect our homes and nature, to be deprived of one euro. I also appeal to the firefighters not to give up overtime hours, but to fight for their rights and every hour earned fairly," he said. is Milović.
"The rule of law and the execution of court decisions, which the outgoing Mayor Injac has been refusing for months, will be met by the Protection and Rescue Service after September 29," he concluded.
