The Podgorica company Čistoća is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of public areas in the city.
This is stated in the company's response to yesterday's announcement by Andrija Klikovac, the head of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Councilors' Club in the Assembly of the Capital City.
He said yesterday that mockery, unhygiene and carelessness reign in the center of Podgorica.
"One more reminder, even for individual councilors in the Assembly of the Capital City, who should know the competences of companies whose founders are the Capital City. We emphasize this, because Councilor Klikovac showed his ignorance with his announcement about 'mockery, unhygiene and negligence in the center of Podgorica' mentioned above, or tried to 'invent' a story again to negatively comment on the work of Čistoca," the response states.
"Although the people of Podgorica are generally well aware, and it was often discussed in the media, we remind you that the area in question in the city center is privately owned, so the obligation to maintain its hygiene is the responsibility of the owner," they said.
They added that Čistoća teams removed municipal waste yesterday, although it is not the responsibility of that company, "but we did not want these photos to be misused these days, for reasons known to everyone".
"The baskets that are in the atrium of the buildings in Block IX were also cleaned, which were full of large bags of 'household' waste, although that is not their purpose. And we have talked about this countless times, a video was recently made on this topic, but individuals do not change their habits. Once again, we use the opportunity to appeal to the respect of waste disposal rules, for the sake of all of us and for the sake of the hard-working people who try to make our common spaces more beautiful", it concludes.
