The candidate for councilor of the list "Jakov Milatović - For a better Podgorica" Dragutin Vučinić promised that the list, upon coming to power in Podgorica, will devote itself to valorizing the archaeological site of Duklja and correcting decades of negligence.
"Valorization of Duklja is one of the key issues of cultural heritage protection - not only for Podgorica, but also for the whole of Montenegro. Duklja is the only archaeological site of the first category in Montenegro, which is quite neglected, despite the efforts of lonely enthusiasts to preserve this ancient heritage, and its historical vertical, from ancient times to today. Therefore, the question arises whether and to what extent decades of negligence can be corrected," said Vučinić.
He pointed out that the list "Za bolju Podgorica" will initiate three key steps in that direction, namely: improvement of traffic infrastructure, regulation of urbanization through quality spatial planning and cultural and historical valorization.
"The initial step is the relocation of road traffic outside this locality, and any solution in that direction is conditional on finding an alternative solution, and the only direction in that direction is the construction of two new bridges. The smaller bridge on Širalija will be aimed at meeting the needs of local residents. The second, larger one and much more significant - the new bridge over the Morača would connect the area of Podgorica's Zagorič and Piper's Roga into one rounded whole, thereby enabling the shortest and fastest connection between Duklja and the city center and a connection to the highway, which would enable a simple and safe transfer of visitors to Duklja, which would be especially important for tourist operators and school excursions," explained Vučnić.
He added that solving the locality's traffic connection with the city must go in parallel with the current processes of changes to the state spatial plan, which envisages the relocation of regular road traffic from the Duklje locality, along the perimeter of the surrounding hills on the border of the Rogama settlement. In this way, as he points out, the regular needs of the residents would be met, but not at the expense of traffic congestion along Duklja.
"It is extremely important to institutionally cover the entire site, with further archaeological research, but also by building a museum-educational facility in the near future, which would be constituted as a key center for the promotion of the ancient history of Montenegro, and as such finally opened to tourists and students". concluded Vučinić.
