At the working meeting of the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Damjan Ćulafić and the President of the Municipality of Rožaje Rahman Husović, it was agreed that they will work together to find a solution for the gradual closure of the "Mostina" landfill, announced the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS ).
One of the conclusions of the meeting is that the municipality will start with the selection of waste and send a request to the competent Ministry and the Government of Montenegro in which they will ask for support in solving this long-standing problem, according to the announcement.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ćulafić pointed out that the Ministry is ready to help Rožaj and that they are aware that in addition to environmental problems, the north of Montenegro has many other problems.
"I am ready to consider all available options and to work on solving the problem until the construction of a regional center for waste management," said Ćulafić.
Husović expressed gratitude for the minister's interest in solving the problem of the "Mostina" landfill, which is one of the most pressing problems in the municipality of Rožaje.
"The Municipality of Rožaje is ready, in accordance with the new State Waste Management Plan, which is being developed, to start implementing measures for the rehabilitation and gradual closure of the Mostina landfill", said President Husović.
Ćulafić stated that due to the very configuration of the landfill terrain, some measures ordered by the Environmental Protection Agency could not be fully implemented, according to the MERS announcement.
"The bridge is a long-standing problem that caused a certain reaction from the public, which is understandable because the citizens have been waiting for a solution for a long time," said Ćulafić.
Husović informed the minister about the started and planned projects on the territory of Rožaj, which will depend on the further development of that municipality.
