The Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro (USSCG) gives its full support to its colleague Igor Rmandić, the president of the Independent Police Union (NSPCG), in the disciplinary proceedings against him, which are aimed at stifling the freedom of trade union organization and action, freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. they said from this organization.
"Believing that the time of unprecedented pressures, which escalated in 2023, against colleague Rmandić and the members of the NSPCG is behind us, the ghosts of the past appear after more than a year and a half since the allegedly disputed public speech and legal protest. The authorities remembered that right at the moment of starting the procedure to prove the representativeness of this union, they dust off the acts that they could use to decapitate the reform and democratic union that was formed after more than a decade at the level of the police, i.e. internal affairs based on the freely expressed will of the employees of the Police Directorate and the Ministry of internal affairs," the USSCG press release states.
This organization said that continuous and orchestrated pressure on the leader of the NSPCG sends an unequivocal message of intimidation to other members of this union.
"It is forgotten, however, that Montenegro has been waiting for almost 10 (ten) years for the formation of this completely independent and authentic union, and that it is now made up of steadfast members of the police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs who do not know the 'shameful slavery of chains', nor fear which 'often tarnishes their face'. Every previous pressure, every previous threat and injustice, which have been continuously applied to the members of this trade union since their establishment until today, has only strengthened their desire for justice and trade union struggle", the USSCG points out.
Although the USSCG has been advocating for justice and determining responsibility at all levels since its establishment, they say that they see the processes against the president of the NSPCG and the members of this union exclusively as constructed.
"If it were not so, it was to be expected that by today proceedings would be initiated against at least one member/official or elder who, from the establishment of the NSPCG until today, by their actions or inactions, prevented and hindered the trade union activities of the NSPCG in a demonstrably illegal manner. And such There were too many actions and inactions, and they continue to happen. , to delaying and obstructing the procedure for proving representativeness", indicate from the USSCG.
They add that with his past trade union work and actions, Rmandić has proven and shown that he will go through these processes with dignity and that he is ready to make sacrifices in the name of a correct, democratic, legal, just and common cause.
"We are sure that, together with him, and the membership of the NSPCG itself, after these processes, will be even stronger, more united and more determined to continue the trade union struggle for better working and living conditions for every police officer, i.e. member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their families. In such and such fight, the USSCG will, as before, be their sincere and unwavering partner," the statement concludes.
