A friendly student match, played in the spirit of the jubilee slogan of the University of Montenegro FuturUM, officially marked the opening of a new multi-functional sports field on the campus of the University of Montenegro (UCG), it was announced from this institution.
As added in the announcement, the total financial value of the construction of the sports field of the University of Montenegro was more than 140.000 euros. The construction was supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Montenegro and the Montenegrin Commercial Bank (CKB).
The ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University of Montenegro Vladimir Božović, the Minister of Sports and Youth of Montenegro Dragoslav Šćekić and representatives of the academic community.
"This project is only the first step towards realizing our ambition that university sports in Montenegro reach the level at which it is in Western universities. Our ambition is to create infrastructure and conditions that will enable students to play sports at the highest level," said Božović. , emphasizing the University's vision in which sport plays an important role in the overall development of students.
"The Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Sports and Youth will continue to support initiatives that promote sports and give young people access to quality sports content. Such projects enable young people to be provided with conditions for sports development, but also for a healthy lifestyle," pointed out Šćekić.
This modern sports field is adapted for several sports, including handball and basketball, and is equipped with modern infrastructure that allows students to improve their sports activities. Prefab tribunes with 135 seats and modern sports furniture, including aluminum handball goals and a multifunctional basketball structure, were built on the field, according to the UCG press release.
UCG said that by opening this field, they are showing their dedication to the development of sports and the improvement of student standards, offering students the opportunity to actively play sports in modern conditions.
