The capital city should urgently apply through numerous funds of the European Union in order to secure money for the construction of several primary and secondary schools in Podgorica, said Aleksandra Raičković from the Montenegrin Civic Action (CGA).
"The acute problem of Podgorica for years, i.e. decades, is the lack of educational institutions, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. This is unacceptable for the capital of a European country that is also a candidate for membership in the European Union. Montenegrin civil action believes that it is extremely time to start thinking more seriously about the youngest, about the future of Podgorica," said Raičković.
In a statement delivered to the media, she pointed out that, according to experts' analyses, Podgorica currently lacks between five and seven primary schools.
"The need for another gymnasium and at least two secondary schools has long been obvious. It is also necessary to have educational institutions for foreigners, of which there are more and more in the capital city.
Because of this situation in the educational infrastructure, families suffer the most, because children are separated from their parents, staying at school in different shifts. Some school shifts end after 20:00. All this is the reason why there are not enough schools in Podgorica. All children should finish their schoolwork in the morning classes. That the family can gather together for lunch. That children can go to extracurricular activities, sports, culture, etc. in the afternoon," Raičković said in the announcement.
She believes that there should no longer be an excuse for inaction.
"It is also necessary for numerous civil investors to motivate and commit to the construction of educational institutions, since most of them are on the black list of tax debtors. All of them had numerous privileges in the capital city when obtaining land, construction and other permits for the construction of residential buildings. It's time to start giving it back to Podgorica.
Investing in education is the only timely investment for the future of our city and country. Into action, let's move more!", concludes Raičković.
