Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Ćulafić today he will visit Nikšić and visit the locations where the company "MM System" unloaded grit, as well as the location for which that company received permission from the Environmental Protection Agency to deposit and process the disputed material.
It is about grit that arrived in Bijela from Porta Montenegro, more precisely the former Arsenal, and from Bijela it ended up on private estates as well as on land owned by the Railway Infrastructure, and on municipal land below Trebjesa. Because of the grit, the residents of the Nikšić settlements of Straševina and Kličevo have been blocking traffic on the Nikšić - Podgorica main road, near the Budoš tunnel, for days at 19 p.m. on the hour, and there have also been longer blockades, demanding that the grit be exported from Nikšić.
President of the Municipality Marko Kovacevic organized a meeting which, in addition to representatives of the local government and local residents, was also attended by representatives of competent institutions. Locals and Kovačević took a common position - that the grit must be removed from Nikšić, and the local administration filed a criminal complaint against the company "MM System".
The environmental inspection ordered that company to remove the grit, but "MM System" appealed.
"We expect the environmental inspection to do its job. The company 'MM System' filed a complaint that does not postpone the execution, but there is no execution and that is the reason why the locals are dissatisfied, but so are we. We expect that the competent institutions will do their job, that the solution, which is enforceable, will be implemented and that the grit will be moved from the territory of the municipality of Nikšić", said Kovačević, when he came to the blockade to support the locals.
And the President of the Municipal Assembly Nemanja Vuković also two days ago, at the blockade, he spoke with the residents of Straševina and Klicevo and promised them that he would invite Minister Ćulafić to come to Nikšić.
Although according to the findings of the Center for Ecotoxicological Research, the disputed material is not dangerous, the locals say that the blockades will last until the grit is removed from Nikšić.
