The Police Department announced that from September 14 to 30, in cooperation with the National Bureau of Insurance, they are organizing and implementing the "Belt for All" campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to raise the level of citizens' awareness of compliance with the legal obligation to use safety belts in all places in vehicles where belts are installed, as well as the mandatory use of safety seats for transporting children.
"The campaign will have a preventive-educational and repressive character, within which traffic police officers will take measures during its duration," the police announced.
Repressive measures, they say, will consist in strict compliance with the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Safety, recording the mentioned offenses as a serious risk for all road users.
"The provisions of the aforementioned Law provide that the driver and passengers in a motor vehicle in which they are installed, i.e. there are places for installing seat belts, are obliged to use a seat belt in traffic on the road in the manner provided by the vehicle manufacturer, as well as that the child five years of age must be transported in a safety seat, i.e. a basket that is attached to the vehicle with a seat belt or special clips in the vehicle, if it is not a public passenger transport vehicle," it added.
They emphasize that the greatest contribution to the creation of a safer traffic environment is made by a person as one of the key safety factors, in a way that will not hinder, endanger or injure other participants, as well as by taking all necessary measures to avoid dangerous situations.
"By promoting the responsible behavior of road users, through regular activities, the police administration will encourage the development of awareness and knowledge about the importance of the use of protective systems in vehicles among citizens, considering their influence in creating a safe environment with their habits, attitudes and behavior in traffic," he concludes. in the announcement.
