Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development Damjan Ćulafić reiterated that Vladimir Martinović, the former director of the Public Enterprise for the Management of National Parks (NP) was dismissed due to endangering the public interest and "large oscillations in the negative business of that enterprise". He said this during his stay in Nikšić, answering questions from journalists. As he pointed out, this morning he gave an order to check all the data related to the business in detail, but according to the information received from the officials, "there are no essential errors" in the data they presented.

Martinović announced that he will file criminal charges because of the Government's decision to dismiss him from that position, and he also claims that the data on the operations of the state enterprise on the basis of which he was dismissed were replaced - that the decision on the dismissal contains data on operations from 2022, when the company recorded a minus presented as a business result in 2023.

"The conclusion is that Martinović threatened the public interest with his work and that we had to react as soon as possible if we did not take some, even temporary, measures to stop the shortcomings in business," said Minister Ćulafić.

He was surprised by the accusation that the dismissal was of a political nature. Martinović was replaced by Marinela Đuretić.

"The newly appointed director was appointed on the basis of professional references. She is neither a member of any political party, nor is she a political activist. Whether she uses her right to vote is her business. There is no evidence that I, as a minister, could have used that as a trump card. I think those accusations are extremely misplaced. I don't dispute anyone's right to file a lawsuit or a criminal complaint. Most often it turns out to be a part of the barren political life in Montenegro. What I can say is yes "No one's rights are threatened. We are here," Ćulafić said, and announced that the relevant ministry would make an official announcement about Martinović's dismissal.
