In the coming period, it is necessary to strategically work on connecting the culture and education sectors in order to promote the participation of children and young people in cultural content and their better understanding of the cultural heritage of Montenegro and culture in general, it was concluded at the meeting of the Minister of Culture and Media, Tamara Vujović, and the Minister of Education , science and innovation, Anđele Jakšić-Stojanović.
The announcement of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) states that it has been agreed that, in accordance with the measures foreseen in the National Cultural Development Program 2024-2027, an Art and Cultural Education Program will be established that will connect cultural institutions and educational institutions at the national and local level , and provide children and young people with access to cultural events and contents, better quality education, and at the same time strengthen their interest in the cultural heritage of Montenegro, with a systemic approach to clearly defined strategic documents in the field of culture and education.
"Our goal is to awaken in children and young people the desire to deepen their knowledge in the field of culture and cultural heritage, and to provide them with safe access to quality cultural content that will broaden their horizons and perception of society, and at the same time increase their interest in a better understanding of heritage, history and traditions of Montenegro," Vujović pointed out.
Jakšić-Stojanović emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, pointing out that connecting culture and education is key to improving the education system and strengthening the participation of children and youth in cultural activities.
According to her, this cooperation contributes to the development of awareness of the importance of the cultural heritage of Montenegro, and at the same time encourages the interest of young people in culture, providing them with a richer and better educational experience.
"At the meeting, the importance of school libraries was also discussed and it was agreed that in the coming period additional efforts will be made with the aim of more significant participation of school libraries in the COBISS.CG system in cooperation with the National Library 'Đurđe Crnojević', all with the aim of raising the visibility of library services funds and work of libraries, and deepening the interest of children and young people in using available funds, promoting reading literacy and promoting the importance of the role of librarians in the education system," the announcement reads.
The MPNI stated that Vujović and Jakšić-Stojanović agreed that in the coming period, the two departments will also work on activities aimed at educating the deficient staff in the field of culture, at all levels of education.
