CGO organized training: The involvement and adequate behavior of the police is key in providing a safer environment for young people

The involvement and adequate treatment of police officers in cases of peer violence and juvenile delinquency is key in providing a safer environment for young people, it was emphasized today during the training organized by the Center for Civic Education (CEO) for 20 police officers from the central region of Montenegro. in Podgorica.

The CGO announced that the lecturers at today's training were Maja Janković, state prosecutor in the Special State Prosecutor's Office, and Kristina Mihailović, executive director of the Parents Association, who discussed numerous topics with the participants, such as observation and assessment of minors in preliminary proceedings, mediation in criminal proceedings, criminal acts against children's sexual freedom, and treatment of children and young people as victims.

"I am satisfied with the interaction during today's work. Colleagues from the police were very interested in sharing their experiences and acquiring new knowledge. I believe that not only this but also future trainings, which I hope will be continuous and organized by the CGO, to a sufficient extent help the Police Administration in further undertaking their measures and actions, and that it will improve the quality of their actions in this area," Janković shared her impressions after the training.

CGO said that this training is the second in a series organized by that non-governmental organization (NGO), in cooperation with the Police Administration, for police officers with the aim of strengthening their competence in dealing with cases of peer violence and juvenile delinquency.

"Previously, training was organized for the northern part, and the last one is planned for next week, which will gather police personnel from the southern region of Montenegro. The training is part of the project 'HEART: support for the empowerment and resilience of young people today', which is implemented by the CGE with financial support from from the European Union and co-financing by the Ministry of Public Administration," the announcement concludes.
