Ilija Mugoša, the leader of the Party of European Progress (SEP) in the elections in Podgorica, said that the party will initiate a "radical change in the treatment" of abandoned animals and pets in the capital.

As it was announced, the activists of that party, led by SEP president Duško Marković and Mugoša, visited the shelter for abandoned animals "Mali Veliki Raj" in Pričelje.

Mugoša expressed his support for the owner of the shelter, Mirjana Vasiljević.

"The Party of European Progress defined it in its Electoral Program Let's organize Podgorica several specific projects in this area. Among them are the increase of capacity and the improvement of inadequate care conditions in the city asylum, subsidies for non-profit organizations dealing with animal care, control over the population of stray dogs and the construction of a crematorium for pets," the announcement states.

Mirjana Vasiljević, who, as reported, takes care of more than a hundred animals – dogs, cats, horses and rabbits, said that she cannot rely on the help of the competent services of the Capital City, "whose job she is doing".

"Wherever I go, I come across an injured animal, beaten or starved, and I take it in and take complete care of it. We need strong help for treatment. I would like to thank the Party of European Progress for the visit and food donation. The capital does not treat this shelter in the right way, that is, it has no relationship at all," she said.
