Locals of Nikšić Župa gathered today to block all roads leading to the town of Rakočica, after they received unofficial information that trucks with euthanized cows, infected with cow fever, were allegedly headed for the mentioned place.
The president of the local community Dragoljub Radulović said that they were called by the president of the municipality of Danilovgrad, Aleksandar Grgurović, who told them that the euthanized infected throats would not be buried in the Rakocica region, but that they had found another location.
The locals dispersed after that information, but according to Radulović, they will control all road routes through Župa that lead to Rakocice, until the mentioned throats are buried.
Last week, as a sign of protest, the parishioners blocked all three approaches to Rakocice and pointed out that they will do it again if the authorities do not give up on the "crazy idea".
As they said then, there is a spring in Rakočice, so not only the waters of Župa, but also Danilovgrad and Podgorica would be threatened.
At that time, they pointed out that they were supported by the President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević, who was also of the opinion that infected cattle should not be buried in Rakocice.
The Rakočice area is located above the King Nikola Ban.
