Burnt trees and plant waste in Gorica will be removed in accordance with all ecological standards, the capital announced.

Capital City Manager Luka Đukanović, Director of the Podgorica Protected Areas Management Agency Jasna Gajević and Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Milan Gazdić, together with their colleagues, visited the locations on Gorica hill that were affected by the recent fire.

As announced, the goal of the visit was to assess the current situation and plan activities for the safe and proper removal of burnt trees and plant waste.

"Dried and burned trees represent a potential danger, especially due to strong winds, which can threaten the safety of visitors. In addition, the removal of burned trees is necessary to enable the restoration of the ecosystem, and to prepare the ground for future revitalization and reforestation. Also, the need for by strengthening the existing fire-fighting system, in order to increase resistance to future incidents of this type. The planned activities will be carried out in accordance with the highest environmental standards, and the public will be informed in a timely manner about further steps," the announcement states.

They invited citizens to contribute to the implementation of those actions and to contribute to the preservation and restoration of nature in Gorica.
