Although Trebjesa is called the "lungs of Nikšić" because of unscrupulous fellow citizens, it is often "on devices". But volunteers and environmentalists do not give up on her. Thus, as part of the action "Cleanup Montenegro", organized by the NGO "Zero Waste Montenegro", and implemented in Nikšić by the Non-Governmental Association (NGO) "Paths of the Ancestors" with the support of the NGO "Cellula", about fifty volunteers cleaned Trebjesa, from SC "Trim" to source at the foot, and collected more than 162 kilograms of various waste.

In addition to the volunteers of the mentioned two organizations, students of the School of Economics and Hospitality, elementary school "Mileva Lajovic Lalatović", non-governmental organizations "Yellow Butterfly" and "Roma Heart" and the municipal Secretariat for Communal Affairs and Traffic participated. The collected waste was transported by the Nikšić Municipal Company.

"The increasing number of children who join these actions really proves that children and young people are a mirror of our future and that we can learn a lot from them. That is why it is extremely important that we all contribute. By using reusable products, such as cups and glass bottles, we reduce waste and we send the message that there are more sustainable ways of life that we can support and that thanks to them we contribute to the preservation of nature," said the coordinator of the action in Nikšić, Ana Petrović Njegoš.

Cleaning actions in numerous Montenegrin municipalities, on the occasion of the International Coastal Cleaning Day, began on the 14th and will last until the 22nd of September.

"Cleanup Montenegro 2024" is part of the wider project "For a clean Montenegro" financed by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, through which, during September and October, educational workshops will be organized for children and young people, where they will learn how to responsibly manage waste and what are "Zero Waste" practices.
