Today, half a year of its work was marked in the National Kitchen in Tivat with a special meeting with representatives of various donors and institutions that support the work of that institution.
The public kitchen in Tivat operates under the auspices of the humanitarian organization Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor, in part of the premises of the former Fire Station in Pakovo. Premises with an area of about 30 square meters in this building, which is the property of the Municipality of Tivat, were given to Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor free of charge for a period of five years by the decision of the local parliament in that city, which with the financial support of donors - primarily a Montenegrin family from Berlin that wanted to stay anonymous, arranged and equipped the National Kitchen here.
Its services are used by all citizens who are in a state of social need and cannot otherwise provide themselves with at least one hot meal a day. The kitchen works seven days a week, and in the past six months, it has distributed over 10.000 meals to the poorest citizens free of charge.
Today, the President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović, together with the director of Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor, don Željko Pasković, visited the premises of the National Kitchen and congratulated its employees for their efforts.
As it was heard on that occasion, the services of the National Kitchen are currently used daily by more than 60 people from Tiv, and in the preparation of meals, special attention is paid to the use of ingredients to meet the specific needs of Islamic believers.
"We organized this meeting with donors who support the activities of the National Kitchen, because without them it would not be able to function, but would remain at the level of an idea. We must not forget the socially responsible individuals who provide us with great support and encourage our efforts to help the most vulnerable categories of people A big thank you to the Montenegrin family from Berlin, who in the previous period supported the work of the Caritas National Kitchen, which is only proof to us that we are on the right path and that we are doing a beautiful thing," said the director of Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor. don Željko Pasković.
In addition to initially providing money for its equipment and the start of work, a Montenegrin family from Berlin, who insisted on anonymity, recently sent a donation of 100.000 euros to Caritas for the further work of the National Kitchen in Tivat.
