The education crisis is not unique to the Montenegrin context, but is a crisis of global proportions that arises as a result of the networked action of various causes that often remain unknown and undetected, said Tatjana Novović, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, yesterday.

Speaking at the International Scientific Conference "Role and Significance of Education in Contemporary Society", she emphasized that the causes must first be identified in order for systemic and comprehensive changes to take place.

"The education crisis is, among other things, caused by the insufficient affirmation of the social and humanistic sciences, because the cultivation of humanistic scripts is a necessary prerequisite for the development of a qualitative, cooperative versus exclusively competitive market approach to learning and teaching," Novović pointed out.

Overcoming the crisis in education contributes, said Novović, to overcoming the broader social crisis.

Dijana Vučković, vice-dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, points out that in addition to the crisis of education, there is also a crisis of upbringing.

"The education crisis is not the only feature of this time. Different times had their own difficulties and challenges. We are not the first generation to talk about the fact that formal education in the form it exists today does not satisfy, does not respond to the needs, first of all, of children, and then of parents, teachers, and society as a whole," said Vučković.

A large part of the presented works will be published in the magazine "Vaspitanju i zadavanje"

Aleksandra Hajduković, director of the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids, pointed out that this institution has existed for almost 30 years and that they are the only publisher of textbooks in Montenegro. They also publish two magazines, "Prosvjetni rad" and "Education and Education", a magazine that has been published continuously since 1975. It was started by the then Republic Institute for the Improvement of Education, and for the past 20 years it has been published by the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids.

"Since its foundation, it has had the status of a leading magazine in the field of educational work in Montenegro, and it has remained so until today. The fact that we are the publishers of such a magazine is an honor for us, but also an obligation. We are glad that we manage to provide all the necessary prerequisites for the preparation and publication of the paper, and I believe that it will be the same in the future," said Hajduković.

The Faculty of Philosophy (FF) in Nikšić, in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy from Novi Sad, is organizing a two-day international scientific meeting "The Role and Importance of Education in Contemporary Society" yesterday and today, in which experts from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are participating.

The scientific meeting, which is held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, was organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the University of Montenegro, and it will present papers that consider the problems of the role and importance of education in modern society from the domains of learning and teaching, philosophy, psychology, sociology, history, literature, digital learning and sustainable development and education.

The mediator was the vice-dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Biljana Maslovarić.
