The NGO Biciklo.me, in cooperation with the European House, the Youth Office of the Capital City and the Secretariat for Transport, is organizing the 18st Critical Mass ride tonight at 81 p.m., which will mark the World Car Free Day and end this year's celebration of the European Mobility Week in Podgorica.
The gathering is at Independence Square, from where at 18 p.m. the generation on bicycles will set off at a leisurely pace through the streets, accompanied by the traffic police and organizers.
The 8,5-kilometer long route leads along Ivan Crnojević Boulevard, 13 Juli, Dalmatinski and Meša Selimović streets, Mihailo Lalić and George Washington boulevards, and then via Krivi most, Zabjelo and Stara Varoš back to Trg.
Car Day is celebrated around the world with numerous events in which the streets in cities are opened for people, who thus get the opportunity to use the street space for walking, cycling, socializing and cultural events.
The critical mass, which Biciklo.me organizes once a month for more than ten years, aims to promote the bicycle as a sustainable and ecological means of transport, but also to encourage the competent authorities to provide conditions so that citizens can move safely and efficiently by bicycle.
