Pride Week, which precedes Montenegro Pride, opened today, it was announced from the non-governmental organization Spektra.
The announcement states that Pride Week was opened with a Pride cafe dedicated to the discussion of the rights of LGBTIQ+ people and gender equality.
"Topics of essential importance for achieving an inclusive and just society based on equality, tolerance and solidarity," the statement said.
As it is added, in an informal atmosphere, members of civil society, civil activists and representatives of political parties discussed the challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ people and their potential solutions.
The organizers said that with the slogan "Where are our rights?" they invite all citizens of Montenegro to ask themselves that question, reminding them of the numerous problems that the LGBTIQ+ community faces.
"Human rights in Montenegro are generally threatened and increasingly neglected," the announcement states.
As announced, the event was organized by Spektra and Kvir Montenegro, with the financial support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, and as part of the 12th Montenegro Pride.
This year's Montenegrin Pride will be held on September 28, under the slogan "Where are our rights?".
