The Roma and Egyptian (RE) population will receive additional support in the educational system through a double increase in the number of mediators in social inclusion, announced the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI).
From that government department, they said that they recognized the needs of the educational system related to the inclusion of a greater number of mediators for social inclusion and adopted changes to the Rulebook on norms and standards for acquiring funds from public revenues for institutions that implement publicly valid educational programs.
"According to the adopted amendments, it is foreseen that one mediator in social inclusion provides assistance to 35 students of the RE population, instead of 70, as was provided by the previous Rulebook", the announcement states.
As it is added, mediators in social inclusion support the children of the RE population with the aim of including them in the education system, ensuring continuity and reducing dropping out of education, as well as improving school and social achievements.
"The mediators are a support in identifying and encouraging the enrollment of Roma and Egyptian children in the education system," explained the MPNI.
They emphasized that mediators promote the importance of learning and cooperate intensively with parents and educational institutions.
"With twice the number of associates for social inclusion in the coming period, it will be easier to work on raising the level of school and social achievements, which MPNI continuously strives for," the announcement concludes.
