The humanitarian march is a symbol of our commitment and solidarity towards those who need help the most. Our obligation to society implies that we protect and provide support to the most vulnerable, and this march is another step towards fulfilling that obligation, announced the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro (VCG), Brigadier General Zoran Lazarevic.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense (MoD), members of the MoD and the Army of Montenegro held, in anticipation of the Army Day celebration, a humanitarian march through the streets of Podgorica with the aim of collecting funds to help the Center for Early Development of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, which works with children with developmental disabilities.
"This event brought together hundreds of soldiers, as well as their families and citizens, who worked together to provide support to the most vulnerable members of our society," it added.
Lazarevic said that this is not the first humanitarian action of the Army of Montenegro and said that he would be happy to continue with such initiatives, "because humanity and courage are the basic values of the members of the Army of Montenegro".
"Not only our members who gathered on the march participate in the action, but also those in international missions and activities, in Latvia, Bulgaria, Iraq, Western Sahara, but also those who serve in Bar, Kolašin, Pljevlji, throughout our country" , he said.
"The general invited colleagues from other institutions and state officials to join the fund-raising campaign until October 7, the Day of the Armed Forces, where he pointed out that all money collected will be directed towards improving living conditions and providing additional resources to the Center, so that together contributed to a better upbringing of children with developmental disabilities," the announcement states.
The march ended in front of the building of the Center for Early Development, where the participants were welcomed by the director of the Center, Dr. Ivan Krgović, with his associates. He presented the capacities of that institution to General Lazarevic and expressed his gratitude for the organized action.
"A voucher with the final amount of money collected will be handed over to the representatives of the Center at the central ceremony on the occasion of the Army Day on October 7, and until then all those interested can join and donate funds by payment to the giro account of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (530-1866-41) with the indication ' The Army of Montenegro to the Center for Early Development,'' said the Ministry of Defense.
