MUP: Šaranović visited Šavnik immediately after seeing off the rescue team in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Saranović visited Savnik immediately after sending the rescue team to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced.

As reported, he, accompanied by the head of the Directorate for Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction Ljuban Tmušić, members of the Montenegrin Army and PJ Directorate for Protection and Rescue Nikšić visited the areas of the municipality of Šavnik that were affected by floods in the previous days.

"The Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the MUP, as the umbrella institution in the protection and rescue system, was in communication with the local protection service all the time, and today we are here to see together what the situation is on the ground and to agree on the dynamics of further moves in the direction damage repair. "We have agreed with the Ministry of Defense that the mechanization and engineering assistance of the Army of Montenegro will be engaged as soon as possible, in order to establish a traffic connection between the cut off villages, and we expect that the water supply will be established quickly," said Šaranović.

He said that the system, although sometimes in limited circumstances, makes enormous efforts to respond to challenges.

"Today's visit and meeting with the local leadership is an opportunity to see on the spot, as decision-makers, what the situation is on the ground, define the further dynamics of work and provide support," he added.

"This support and humane character of our work is not absent even outside the borders of Montenegro, which is also confirmed by the departure of the Montenegrin rescue team to Bosnia and Herzegovina this morning. The minister pointed out that this situation showed how important it is to work on prevention, but also to continuously invest in system of protection and rescue, and that the Ministry and the Government will work on finding the best ways to help the municipality of Šavnik and the citizens in this area," the announcement concludes.
