The Pristina company "Royal", which is supposed to build the luxury hotel "Jadran" on the Suka peninsula in Ulcinj, removed the improvised gate from the entrance to that location, just a day or two after it was installed.
The Ulcinj Communal Police submitted a request to the company to remove the reinforcing nets after numerous reports from locals who did not hide their anger on social networks due to the ban on access to that part of the coast since the work on Suka had not yet started.
From "Royal", "Vijesti" was told that the location is fenced in accordance with the contract and that the competent inspection is aware of it.
"In addition, we are obliged to do it because the location will be turned into a construction site, and the unemployed and citizens will not be allowed to access it because of the danger," the company's answer reads.
The head of the Communal Police, Amir Mehmeti, confirmed to "Vijesti" that the gate was removed at the request of the department he heads.
"After numerous reports from the locals, we sent a request to the authorities from the company. They came yesterday and removed the gate," Mehmeti said.
During the season, there was a parking space at that location.
"Royal" bought the company "Star of Montenegro" in early 2023 and assumed the obligation to build a high-class hotel with accompanying facilities. Since the end of 2008, "Star of Montenegro" had a contract with Morski dobro on the use of state land.
That company claims that after more than a year of signing the contract with the Public Company for the Management of Marine Resources, they received the cadastral documents they needed for the main project, the development of which is underway. After that, the start of the works can be expected, but the company previously did not specify when it would be or when the hotel could be put into operation.
