The consequences of the weather disasters that befell the municipality of Savnik and the village of Komarnica are, without a doubt, one of the biggest state problems at the moment, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
Today he visited the Municipality of Šavnik and households in the village of Komarnica and spoke with the President of the Municipality of Šavnik Jugoslav Jakić.
Milatović said that he has been in contact with the local administration since the moment when the weather disasters hit Savnik and stated that the competent state authorities must take it seriously and approach the rehabilitation responsibly.
"This is, without a doubt, currently one of the biggest state problems. I call on the Government of Montenegro to react urgently, to go to the scene and engage all competent institutions in order to assess the damage and work on its elimination," said Milatović.
He added that the region of Šavnica has been oriented towards tourism in recent years and that it must return to normal before the next summer tourist season.

"I believe it was my duty to come here today and see for myself the extent of this weather disaster and the damage it caused. I regret that, according to the President of the Municipality, other state institutions did not react to the extent they should have, except The Army of Montenegro, which immediately went out on the field and did what was in its power," said Milatović.
As it was announced from the office of the President of the State, in a conversation with the residents of Komarnica, Milatović pointed out that at this moment support for the local population is crucial, namely through urgent aid measures and compensation for material damage, infrastructure recovery and a comprehensive approach that requires interdepartmental cooperation in order to the area around the Komarnica River returned to its pre-flood state.

He also said that a long-term strategy for the prevention of future disasters is necessary. The President of the Municipality of Šavnik, Jugoslav Jakić, thanked Milatović for his visit and tour of the affected areas.
"Today, after several days of the storm, we can see that the damage is really great. The main thing for us is that we somehow managed to return life to normal, that everything that is vital - road, water, electricity supply - it works here today," said Jakic.

He said that Milatović's visit today is encouraging and sends a clear message that the state must seriously deal with this problem.
"This is a complex job that will require a thorough approach. This requires urgent intervention, so that life can go on normally, including tourist activities that are significant for our municipality," said Jakić.

Milatović thanked the members of the Army of Montenegro, who, he said, reacted quickly and did everything to normalize life in this part of the country.
