Parents whose children attend kindergartens and primary and secondary schools in Podgorica will have the opportunity on Tuesday, October 22, to participate in consultations on the state of education in Montenegro and directly get involved in the process of planning the reform of the education system from 2025-2035. year.
The event organized by the Parents Association takes place in the Multimedia Hall of the Capital City Assembly (Njegoševa 13), starting at 18 p.m., and is part of the "Quality Education for All Children" project, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, UNICEF -, the European Union and the UN Peacebuilding Fund.
Parents will be addressed in the introductory part by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, the President of the Capital Assembly Jelena Borovinić Bojović, the head of the UNICEF representative office in Montenegro Mikele Servadei and the executive director of the Parents Association, Kristina Mihailović.
The organization of the event was supported by the Capital City, whose representatives will also participate in the consultations, as the Association said. emphasized the importance of the role of local administrations in education, in accordance with legal possibilities.
"Parents will then have the opportunity to convey observations and suggestions to the authorities in MPNI about what could be improved in the education system at the local and national level. All suggestions and comments will be submitted to the Ministry, but also to the Advisory Board of the initiative "Quality education for all children in Montenegro", which is in charge of planning the reform and the Education Strategy from 2025-2035", the announcement states.
The consultations were preceded by a guide prepared by the association Parents in cooperation with UNICEF, in which more than five and a half thousand parents/guardians from all over Montenegro expressed their views and suggestions about the education system.
Consultations are planned to be held in several other municipalities.
"Podgorica is the first of seven Montenegrin municipalities where consultations with parents will be held in the coming period. After Podgorica, it is planned to additionally consult with parents from Pljevlja, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi, Nikšić, Bijelo Polje and Bar, but and representatives of local administrations," said the Association.
