Inspectors of the Directorate for Inspection Affairs of the Capital City and the Police Directorate, from the beginning of September to the middle of October, fined 171 drivers for illegal parking and stopping in the center of Podgorica, the city administration told "Vijesti".
Answering the question about the amount of fines collected, from the Capital City they say that "the current amount of the fine is 60 euros, which is collected in accordance with the orders issued by the Directorate for Inspection Affairs".
"But the procedure for changing the regulations is underway, and after they come into force, the fines will soon be significantly increased," they explained.
The action "Stop traffic incivility in the center of Podgorica" began on September 3, and the capital city announced at the time that the initiative was launched in response to the increasingly frequent violation of traffic regulations, which seriously impairs the safety of road users.
The capital city told "Vijesta" that the Directorate for Inspection Affairs recorded 67 cases of illegally parked vehicles, which were then moved.
"In the period from September 3 to September 9, inspectors of the Administration for Inspection Affairs of the Capital City wrote a total of 11 misdemeanor orders. 9 misdemeanor warrants for illegal parking and stopping were written by traffic policemen of the Police Directorate," they said.
They reminded that with the action, special attention was drawn to disputed streets and boulevards in the center of the capital.
"... Ivan Crnojevića Boulevard, Stanko Dragojevića Boulevard, Bokeška Street, Njegoševa Street, Balšića Street and others, and all other locations on the territory of the city were treated as well," said the capital city.
According to them, the occurrence of illegal parking in Podgorica is influenced by several factors.
"The Directorate for Inspection Affairs of the Capital City and other competent authorities strive to reduce this problem to a minimum through their actions. Accordingly, more than 60 drivers of illegally parked vehicles are sanctioned every day, and numerous activities are carried out through cooperation with other authorities (Police Administration and Municipal Police), they said from the capital city.
They believe that the action "Stop traffic incivility in the center of Podgorica" will influence citizens not to park and stop illegally.
"But all of the above does not completely solve this problem. Activities to combat illegal parking will be continued in the coming period with the aim of eliminating congestion and making traffic in the city more difficult", the city administration concluded.
