The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management will financially assist the Municipality of Savnik and agricultural producers in remediating the consequences of the floods that recently hit the area, said relevant minister Vladimir Joković.
Today, Joković, together with the members of the Governmental Commission for Natural Disasters, which he heads, visited the Municipality of Šavnik and the town of Komarnica.
As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Joković said that today they were convinced that a great deal of damage was caused to the local infrastructure and agricultural households.
He said that, considering that these consequences exceed the capabilities of the Municipality of Savnik and the Ministry of Agriculture, he will appeal to the Government to build the infrastructure so that the river bed can be directed.
"The Ministry will financially assist the local self-government and agricultural producers as much as we can, according to the estimates of the local and then the Government commission," said Joković.
He appealed to agricultural producers to insure their property, so that they would be safer in the future.
Joković said that the Government is ready to help the area and explained the procedures for assistance.
"After the meeting, Joković, together with representatives of the Commission, visited the area affected by the natural disaster and talked with the locals," the statement said.
It is stated that during the meeting they also discussed the state of agriculture in the territory of the Municipality of Šavnik and the possibilities for further improvement.
