The Council for Defense and Security made a decision to engage the Army of Montenegro to support members of the Police Administration in the search for an armed person suspected of murdering two people in the village of Tomaševo, municipality of Bijelo Polje, President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović announced.
Milatović said that this decision was made in order to contribute to internal security in peace within the assigned mission of the Army to support other institutions, and all in accordance with the Law on Defense.
"Citizens' trust in members of the Police and Army that they will succeed in carrying out this task, and restore the feeling of security to citizens, are now the most important. Alija Balijagić (65) from Bijelo Polje, a suspect in a double murder, a rapist and a robber who spent more than half his life in prison, was not arrested until late last night, although, according to the authorities, all available police forces were involved in the search for him and elite military units.
It is suspected that Balijagić killed Milenko Madžgalj (21.30) and her brother Jovan Madžgalj (69) on Friday evening, around 60:XNUMX p.m., in the Bjelopolje village of Sokolac, and then fled.
