Daris, I'm sorry and we're with you - said citizens from today's protest in the center of Bar regarding the case of violence in the Bar Gymnasium, after which the student of that school, Daris Mujić, is still receiving treatment, and the suspect of the attempted murder is defending himself from freedom.
The gathered and the speakers demanded the reform of the law, stricter punishments for juvenile offenders and reforms in education, as well as the urgent involvement of authorities in the process of suppressing violence.
"City along Darisa", "Are we waiting for Ribnikar?", "Judge, because of you, our children can't go outside!", How many more victims are needed for change?" are just some of the inscriptions that marked today's protest, which was also a rally support for the injured Daris.
Alan Drljan, on behalf of the Mujić family, said that he will continue with the protests until justice is served, but that he will move them in front of the High Court in Podgorica, which made a decision to release the suspect for the attempted murder of Daris after nine days.
In the announcement, Drljan called the biology professor at the Bar High School, Milena Bajagić, who ran to the aid of the injured Daris and provided him with first aid until the ambulance arrived, "the most famous biology professor in the Balkans" and the woman without whom Daris would not be where he is today.
"Your mark that you left with your work will be told for generations in the city under Rumija", he concluded.
Bajagić said that every child is the embodiment of the family they come from, and that the school is a mirror of society.
In the sea of information, she pointed out, a trace must remain for the children that we fought for them and their future.
"The lesson that is passed down from generation to generation is that the smarter give in. Today, as well as in the coming period, we must not give in for the sake of a better future for our children", she said and added that they are young, beautiful and energetic and have a chance for a better world, so we must change ourselves for them.
Daris' younger sister, Lara Mujić, standing between her parents, thanked everyone who was with Daris and their family during this difficult period.
She said that what happened to her brother left permanent scars on their family that they carry with them every day.
According to her, they are trying to find the strength to continue and are facing something that is even more difficult, which is to understand the decision to terminate the detention of the perpetrator of the crime.
She thanked those who helped Daris at that moment and added that "their determination and selflessness provided him with a chance to recover" and those who were with them in thoughts, prayers and concern, and said that their support gave strength to their family.
"As the victim's family, we feel extra vulnerable and unprotected. This procedure sends a message, not only to us, but to everyone who has gone through similar situations that justice is not attainable. How can we feel safe, when the system, which is supposed to protect us, allows the guilty to move freely again and again without any consequences", asked Mujić.
According to her, she would not wish what happened to her brother on anyone, because no one deserves to go through this kind of pain or feel the injustice they are now carrying.
"This is not only my pain, but fear for the future, for the safety of my family and for all those who might be in a similar situation. We seek justice, not only for my brother, but for all those who believe that the law should protect victims and not be on the side of those who committed crimes," she said.
As she said, because of this situation she grew up overnight and everything they went through forced her to look at the world with different eyes, with more maturity and awareness of how important it is to fight for truth and justice.
In the end, she called on all authorities to consider the consequences of their decisions and to ensure that justice is achieved.
The director of the "Niko Rolović" gymnasium, Marija Đonović, addressed the crowd and said that we must not allow such things to happen without clear responsibility and appropriate punishments.
"As an educator, I believe that our children are good, conscientious, full of positive ambitions, but also that it is up to us adults to teach them and instill in them the right values that will make them better people, for themselves and for others," she said. .
What happened to Daris didn't just happen to him and his family, but to all of us, she said, and that's why she casts her vote for amending the law on juvenile delinquency.
She said that the voice of unity and a confident attitude is ringing from the protest that it is time for changes because there are many rights and few responsibilities.
Kristina Mihailović from the Parents' Association said - Darise, I'm sorry.
"I'm sorry that we allowed the worst possible scenes that you and your parents could have imagined to happen to you. "I'm sorry that we were not loud enough, clear enough in the previous period, asking the institutions of the system to allow our children to live safely in this country," she said.
She apologized to all the children living in today's Montenegrin society, whom she said are unprotected and without any support when they need it the most.
She apologized for spending time on analyses, assessments, writing documents and working groups and that nothing concrete was done even though we have known for decades that there is a problem with violence among adults, children and against children.
"We, the adults, are a bad example for our children. "They absolutely use opportunities and do not respond because we allowed them not to respond and behave in the way that we, as adults, send the message that it is allowed," she emphasized.
She also apologized to children who bully other children because they allowed them to do so without their responsibility and the responsibility of their families. She especially underlined that there is a social and family crisis in the country and that they cannot wait any longer and that they have to do something urgently.
The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Care, Family Care and Demography called for a reaction from Anđela Jukić from the non-governmental association (NVU) Lea Bar, who requested that these bodies urgently take all steps to ensure the safety of children in schools.
She reminded that Montenegro is a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and that it has pledged to guarantee every girl and boy the right to live in peace and dignity, that is, a life without violence.
"We ask that, in addition to school police officers, the issue of mandatory introduction of special pedagogues into educational institutions, i.e. special education teachers as a profession that is closely specialized in working with children and youth with behavioral problems, should be urgently considered." We ask why the number of psychologists, pedagogues and social workers in schools is not increased", said Jukić.
The protest was supported not only by Barani, but also by citizens from other cities, civil activists, numerous non-governmental organizations, local councilors, former and current MPs and politicians, among whom was the president of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević.
