The UNICEF representative office in Montenegro and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) provided 221 tablet computers for preschool children with special educational needs.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) announced that the donation was handed over today.
"The representative office of UNICEF has provided 221 tablets that will serve as a necessary technological tool for using the Cboard application for the development of communication and knowledge acquisition, as well as other useful applications designed and supported by UNICEF, with the financial support of the EU," it says. in the statement.
It is stated that the development-inclusive and integrated support program "Quality education for all children of Montenegro" promotes the importance of early communication, education and social inclusion of children with developmental disabilities, develops and improves communication using assistive technology.
The program is coordinated by the Institute for Education, implemented in cooperation with UNICEF, and implemented through a joint project of MPNI, UNICEF and the EU Delegation.
Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, at the donation presentation, said that the event represents an important step towards making education accessible and adapted to every child, regardless of their specific needs.
"With the support of UNICEF, we have created technological and pedagogical conditions that enable children with developmental disabilities to participate equally in the educational process and develop their potential," said Jakšić Stojanović.
She thanked the EU Delegation for their engagement and commitment, stating that their support is essential for achieving the common goals of inclusive education.
"I especially thank the Institute for Education, professional associates, educators and all training participants, whose work is crucial in the implementation of this program in all preschool institutions of Montenegro," said Jakšić Stojanović.
The representative of the EU Delegation, Liselot Isakson, pointed out that educational policies should take diversity into account and enable all children to be successful in education and develop their full potential, in accordance with their specific educational needs.
She pointed out that the donated tablets and Cboard applications are a good indicator of how technologies can be used to promote inclusion in a way that will help everyone involved in the education process to understand and be understood, and that the EU will be very happy to support that initiative.
The head of the UNICEF representative office in Montenegro, Mikele Servadei, said that this is an excellent example of how new technologies can contribute to the quality inclusive education of every child.
He pointed out that UNICEF will continue to support the reform of the education system, so that more such practices can be implemented in the future.
Director of the Institute for Education, Raba Hodžić, said that the activities of the Institute include the training of educators and professional associates, as well as numerous trainings for school administrators, teachers, teachers and interns for the application of inclusive practices in their daily work.
Project coordinator Anita Marić emphasized that the program promotes the importance of early communication, education and social inclusion of children with developmental disabilities, and provides conditions for the development and improvement of communication through the use of assistive technology.
