At a telephone session, based on the consent of the majority of members, the government gave consent for the purchase of real estate for the purpose of increasing student accommodation.
The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property addressed the Administration for State Property with an act by which it submitted Information on the purchase of an object for the purpose of increasing accommodation capacity for students.
"It is stated that the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, at the initiative of the Student Parliament of the UCG, carried out an analysis of potential possibilities for solving the accommodation capacities of students on the territory of the Capital City. The conclusion of the analysis is that, apart from the potential construction of a new Student Dormitory, the way to solve the problem can be the purchase of a building whose purpose would be was the accommodation of students," states the Government's explanation.
It is added that data was submitted for the 2023/2024 academic year, where a large number of students applied, so on that occasion 714 students were left without the right to the necessary accommodation.
"When all this is added to the large number of students who in the previous period solved their housing issue by renting real estate in the territory of the Capital City, and taking into account the fact that real estate rental prices are increasing, we come to the fact that the number of students who have their right to accommodation capacity is I cannot achieve, for the above-mentioned reason, an ever-greater one," the explanation reads.
They also state that the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation reported everything to the Government, which agreed to solve the problem by purchasing the building.
"And on that occasion, the opinion of the Ministry of Finance was submitted, which expressed its agreement with the initiative in question and that for the purpose in question it is possible to provide 2024 euros in the current budget reserve in 3.600.000, while the funds for the following year need to be provided budgets for the following year," the explanation reads.
