Elementary school "Njegoš" justifies its name and the reputation it carries and represents the pride of Cetinje, thanks to generations of successful students who became leaders and role models in their communities, as well as the dedicated work and commitment of teachers who shaped their knowledge and character, selflessly sharing his knowledge and experience, announced Nikola Đurašković, mayor of Cetinje.
It was announced from the Capital of Cetinje that "Njegoš" Elementary School from Cetinje celebrated its jubilee - 190 years of existence - with a ceremonial academy in the Royal Theater Zetski dom.
The announcement adds that speaking at the ceremony, Đurašković said "that the first secular school in Montenegro was founded in Cetinje in 1834, on the initiative of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, as a significant step towards the modernization of education in our country, and in the same year it was founded and the printing house that enabled the printing of school books, which further improved the Montenegrin education system".
"In this way, Cetinje became a place where knowledge and culture began to spread in a new and different way, shaping the modern history of our country, while the Elementary School 'Njegoš' developed and adapted to the needs of the times, while remaining faithful to its basic principles. Today, this school justifies its name and the reputation it carries and represents the pride of Cetinje, thanks to generations of successful students who became leaders and role models in their communities, as well as the dedicated work and dedication of teachers who shaped their knowledge and character, selflessly sharing their knowledge and experience", said Đurašković.
The director of the school, Adrijana Aleksić, said that "Njegoš" Primary School is not only a place where knowledge is acquired, but also a home where values are built, talents are developed and the foundation for the future is created.
"The bearers of education and true builders of this school have always been its dedicated teachers and generations of students who, through work, effort and success, have improved the reputation of the school. This is an opportunity to thank all of them, former and current teachers, professors, parents, and partners of the school on their support and cooperation", said Aleksić.
The announcement also states that the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, also spoke at the ceremony, who recalled the reconstruction of educational institutions in Cetinje.
"In cooperation with the Capital of Cetinje and Mayor Nikola Đurašković, we will begin the construction of the decades-awaited gymnasium for the primary school 'Lovčan Partisan Detachment.' , in which authentic Montenegrin souvenirs will be conceived, designed, created and produced," said the minister.
The announcement also states that a rich cultural and artistic program was prepared during the ceremony, and that current and former students of "Njegoš" Elementary School participated.
"Awards were also awarded to the best who participated in the 'Eternal Light' competition announced on the occasion of the school's jubilee," the announcement concludes.
