Radan Nikolić's statements are inaccurate and malicious, and this time they also contain serious threats, Human Rights Action (HRA) announced today.
From that non-governmental organization (NGO), they reacted to the statements of the director of the Association of War Fighters of Montenegro since 1990, Radana Nikolić, which were published yesterday on Portal Vijesti.
"The Action for Human Rights (HRA) has, for the umpteenth time, been forced to react to the inaccurate and malicious statements of Radan Nikolić, who has publicly presented himself as the president of the Association of War Veterans since 1990. This time, Nikolić's statements also contain serious Nikolić falsely portrays the efforts of Action for Human Rights to adopt a law that would fairly regulate the status of all civilian victims of war The law is in the best interest of all whom Nikolić allegedly represents, so it is unclear why he is in the way of its adoption and in whose interest he attacks the victims and the HRA," the HRA press release points out.
The non-governmental organization (NGO) added that Nikolić accuses HRA of "working to the detriment of Montenegro" and calls on his like-minded fighters to "maximum organized resistance".
"It is not clear who is threatened by Nikolić and with whom he would go to war again. We especially warn against Nikolić's publicly presented slanderous and obviously unbalanced statement that 'Non-governmental organizations are spy organizations that set themselves up as supranational and control a significant part of prosecutors and judges in the interests of foreign countries, and to the detriment of Montenegro'. Nikolić's claim that the European Parliament did not criticize the Law on Veterans and Disability Protection as selective, and that the executive director of HRA falsely announced this to the public, HRA said.
They said that the European Parliament, in its resolution dated October 18, 2023, literally in point 52, expressed "concern over the fact that the dissolved Montenegrin parliament adopted the Law on Veterans and Disability Protection, which selectively provides for the category of 'civilian victims of war' and their right to monetary compensation, although the law has not yet entered into force".

"The claim that HRA Executive Director Tea Gorjanc Prelevic is a member of any 'secret group' for the drafting of that law is also incorrect. HRA did not even have a representative in the working group formed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare under the direction of Minister Naida Nišić, which is also easy to check. The fact that the HRA submitted to the competent ministry in January 2024 a proposal for the regulation of the status of civilian victims of war in accordance with international standards, and informed the public about it, Nikolić falsely represents as a member of a secret group with ministers, which is absurd." it is written in the announcement of HRA.
They warn the media that "transmitting slanderous and threatening statements entails the responsibility of the media that participate in it".
"We emphasize that everything Nikolić said was easy to verify in the documents of the European Parliament and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare or in Action for Human Rights, but that none of the media that reported Nikolić's statements did so," the statement concludes.
