Gorčević in Nikšić: The European idea lives not only at the state level, but also at the local level

I am glad that the European idea lives not only at the state level, but also at the local level, said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević during a working visit to Nikšić.

She held a meeting with the presidents of the Municipality and the Municipal Assembly Nikšić, Marko Kovačević and Nemanja Vuković and their associates, visited the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center "Technopolis", the office of the Nikšić European Capital of Culture 2030 initiative and local radio and television.

"Cooperation with all local self-governments is extremely important for citizens' information, but also for the use of EU funds. "I also spoke with the Mayor of Nikšić about the candidacy of Nikšić for the European Capital of Culture 2030 and told him that I have the absolute support not only of the Ministry of European Affairs, but also of the entire Government," said Gorčević.

As for Technopolis, it is, according to the minister, a good indicator for all partners in Montenegro how to use European money, through European stories.

"Technopolis is preparing 12 projects. It is a beautiful story and a good message for all the citizens of Nikšić", said the minister.

The President of the Municipality expressed his satisfaction that Gorčević chose Nikšić as her first visit after the positive report of the European Commission.

"We had the opportunity to exchange experiences, what our needs are at the local level, and what we as a local self-government can do on our further European journey as a state. We see that in the coming period we will have many opportunities for local self-governments, especially as regards the withdrawal of funds from European funds. We presented our initiative for Nikšić to be the European Capital of Culture and received full support from the minister and the ministry itself in the further process that awaits us when it comes to that. We see that we have a perspective for the future that is good for both Nikšić and Montenegro," Kovačević pointed out.
